Over the next 2 weeks, Semiahmoo Speech Services is undergoing the exciting process of conducting interviews: we are looking for a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) who would make a wonderful addition to our team! At Semi Speech, we are passionate about making speech therapy accessible to everyone while maintaining consistent, and high quality services. We believe that an SLPA would make a fantastic addition to our clinical team- not only would we be able to offer more hours of speech services, but we would be able to provide them for a slightly reduced fee!

What is an SLPA and what do they do?

Who are Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPA)?

  • Speech-Language Pathology Assistants are  academically trained and clinically-experienced support personnel. They are directly supervised by certified Speech-Language Pathologists

What do SLPAs do?

  • Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPA) conduct tasks under the supervision of a registered Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP). For example, some of their responsibilities include executing specific speech and language programs and treatment plans developed by an SLP.

How do you get trained as an SLPA?

  • There are online programs and programs in Eastern and Central Canada. At this time, training programs are not offered in British Columbia.

Semiahmoo Speech Services is passionate about supporting the communication needs of all our clients, and to help all clients improve or keep up with their language skills! We know that the addition of an SLPA will supplement our services, making communication accessible to all.

If you have more questions or would like more information on SLPAs, please let us know by email: semispeech@shaw.ca or by phone: 778-574-1118.
